Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have become hugely popular again in Britain, according to crowds at Madame Tussauds. The ex-Royals are returning to live in the UK from America more than six years after they announced they were stepping back from royal duties.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will relocate here in days following claims Meghan is about to land a prime role in top Netflix show The Gentlemen.
Waxworks moved to prominent zone
Their star status is likely to shine again on their return to Britain if the popularity of their waxworks are anything to go by. Madame Tussauds has recently moved the pair’s lookalike models to the London tourist spot’s prominent British “culture capital” zone.
The waxwork models are now standing among the likes of Sir David Attenborough, Harry Kane, Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne. And the queues this week desperate to take selfies alongside Harry and Meghan while holding a classic British umbrella over their heads have been off the scale.
Tourists flock to see the couple
Your Daily Star saw tourists pack out the zone while waiting patiently to get a picture with the couple.
An onlooker said: “It’s crazy how many people wanted pictures of the Harry and Meghan waxworks in particular. They seemed to be among the most popular ones there, which was a surprise. People were skipping past the likes of Eddie Redmayne and Benedict Cumberbatch to glimpse the Sussexes. It’s a sign they might have more stardom coming back home than they’ve had in America.”
Return to UK celebrated
It comes just days after Tussauds celebrated the couple's return to the UK by putting suitcases briefly alongside the smiling twosome. The museum had separated Harry and Meghan from the rest of the royal family in 2020 when the couple announced they would “step back” as senior royals and, since then, the duke and duchess have typically been in an awards party zone.
But now they’re in a more prominent position, fans are loving the couple.
A spokesperson at Madame Tussauds said: “With the surprise news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are returning to UK shores, we recently moved them to our Culture Capital zone here at Madame Tussauds London to join other notable British icons. As two of our most popular and well-loved figures, it felt only right to be the first to roll out the red carpet.”
