Harry and Meghan 'never forgiven' by William and Kate

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to the UK and made their first joint public appearance, but sources indicate their rift with the Prince and Princess of Wales remains unresolved.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated from their Montecito, California, home in August and last week attended several organisations in Nottingham. Around 150 well-wishers gathered to greet the royal pair, who moved back to Britain with their children, Archie and Lilibet, six years after stepping down as senior working royals.

Nottingham Visit and Public Reception

Meghan and Harry acknowledged those who attended and praised the vital work across the Nottingham community in a statement on their website. The statement read: "For The Duke and Duchess, returning to Nottingham was an opportunity to reconnect with a community close to their hearts and reflect on what comes next."

"Across the work here, a common thread emerged: opportunity grows through relationships built over time, the commitment of people who support one another, and places where everyone feels a sense of belonging."

Brand expert Nick Ede, speaking to Cafe Casino, called the visit a significant triumph. He said: "Meghan has an opportunity to reclaim her place in Britain without needing the Palace. She's a different woman from the one who arrived in 2017, and this could be the start of a new chapter if she does it well. I think this was far better than her photo op with Malala which set very contrived. She is a Hollywood celebrity, and she needs to play more into that and forget her title."

Family Relations Remain Strained

Despite the warm reception, relations with Harry's elder brother, Prince William, are not thought to have thawed. Harry is understood not to have communicated with his brother since returning, while William and Catherine are reportedly "looking to the future" and keen to avoid any "drama".

During their time in America, Meghan and Harry gave several prominent interviews, had their own Netflix series, Finding Freedom, and Harry published his memoir, Spare, making claims about life within the monarchy and royal relatives.

Ede added: "A warm reception doesn't mean a royal reunion is around the corner. I think we'll see a private family reconciliation with Charles and Camilla long before we ever see the Fab Four together again. I don't think William and Kate will ever forgive them."
