Prince Harry and Meghan Markle felt they were "blessed" by the "magic" Diana, Princess of Wales carried with her, a royal author claimed. The Duke of Sussex has spoken out many times over the years about the impact that his mother's death had on his mental health, as he was just 12 years old when Diana died in a car crash. Harry has also revealed how he keeps his late mother close in his day-to-day life and how he is instilling her memory in his own children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
2018 tour of Australia and beyond
According to a leading investigative author, his belief grew further when he and Meghan embarked on a tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji in 2018. Throughout their visit to Australia in 2018, Harry and Meghan visited several landmarks, including Bondi Beach, the Sydney Opera House and attended the Invictus Games. Their tour mimicked that of the then-Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1983.
According to Tom Bower, the couple felt they had been "blessed" by "Diana's magic" but failed to recognise that the late princess spent several years building up her public image. Writing in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War with the Windsors, Mr Bower claims the couple felt their triumph was down to the fact that they had been "blessed" by Harry's late mother.

He wrote: "The Sussexes had convinced themselves that their Australian success blessed them with Diana’s magic. Meghan could not understand that Diana had won the public's affection after years of work."
"Neither she nor Harry could grasp that emulating Diana required time, to weave a narrative and create a brand from which influence would flow."
Harry's ongoing connection to Diana
Harry has been open over the years about the way he keeps his late mother involved in his life. And, according to Diana, Princess of Wales's biographer Andrew Morton, Harry uses a certain method to do this. Speaking on The Mirror's podcast, Pod Save the King, back in 2022, Mr Morton revealed that Prince Harry will reportedly never make a decision without consulting Diana's spirit.
He said: "I think that Diana's influence has lasted longer than anybody thought because her torchbearers in life, William and Harry, have not forgotten her and have held concerts in her memory."
"Harry himself says that he never makes a decision without referring it to her in a spiritual sense. She marked a turning point in the way the Royal Family behaved and through her behaviour helped to modernise and make more human the Royal Family."
