The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been accused of turning their reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla last month into a "circus". Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, visited Highgrove on July 10 to meet with Their Majesties.
Criticism from Royal Author
While the meeting was kept private, the build-up and speculation about whether it would occur have been criticized by royal author Robert Jobson. This is because it coincided with significant political upheaval in the UK Government, including Andy Burnham's bid to become Prime Minister.
Jobson argued that King Charles should have been in the news for these political matters, not for whether Harry and Meghan were "coming for tea". Speaking on Royally Unfiltered to host Kinsey Schofield, Jobson said: "It made it all so trivial. It's (the monarch) a very important political and powerful role, and it's just been turned into a circus by Harry and Meghan, and for their own benefit."
