Greggs Superfan Builds Themed Bar in Gateshead Garden

A Tyneside man has created a Greggs themed bar in his back garden. Brad Botcherby, who is known as "The Geordie Joiner", visits the beloved Newcastle bakery chain daily and wanted to bring its spirit into his home.

The Bar's Features

The bar has a Greggs shop sign, blue and white walls and steak bake and sausage roll shaped cushions. It also has AI generated images on the wall of King Charles eating a steak bake and a sausage roll wearing a Newcastle United shirt.

Brad's Love for Greggs

The 30-year-old joiner and TikTok influencer, from Wardley, Gateshead, said: "I absolutely love Greggs. It's just so easy isn't it? It's cheap and great for when I'm out on the go. There's one practically on every corner in the North East."

"My favourite things to get are the sausage, bean and cheese melt and the corned beef bake. I usually get six or seven things at a time when I go! I had wanted to build a bar in my garden for a while, and thought a Greggs themed one would be brilliant."

Building the Bar

Brad, who owns his own business, documented the process of building the bar on his TikTok page to his more than 60,000 followers. The project came together and now features a mini fireplace, retro radio, TV, sofa and bar as well as a shelf dedicated to Newcastle United merchandise.

The dad-of one said: "I had seen people building their own bars in their gardens through covid-19 and thought I would also love one of them. Initially, we were just creating a normal bar but because I do a lot of videos about Greggs someone got in touch and said they had a spare shop sign from doing out one of the shops that was just going to go in the skip."

"That's where the idea came from and we wanted to carry the theme throughout."

Reception and Reaction

The latest video on the bar, where Brad shared his Greggs cushion haul gained over 10,000 likes, with commenters raving about how it looks. One said: "It looks amazing well done" while another commented: "Best use of adult money I've seen all week."

Brad added: "We've loved using it, keeping the doors open on a hot day. Everyone who has seen it thinks it's brilliant. I don't think anyone else has anything like what we have, which makes it quite niche."
