Tilly Ramsay, the 24-year-old daughter of world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay, has offered a rare glimpse into what her father is truly like when the cameras stop rolling. Speaking on The Runna Podcast on July 17, Tilly revealed that Gordon maintains the same personality both on and off screen, a trait she credits with helping her navigate her own television career.
Growing Up Around Cameras
Tilly, who fronts Prime Video's Dish It Out and previously presented CBBC's Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch, said she “kind of grew up around cameras” as the daughter of one of the planet's most recognisable chefs. She recalled watching her father work and noticing his consistent demeanor. “I was watching my dad do it at home, and I'd see that he is the same person when the camera's on and the camera's off,” Tilly explained. “And I think that really helped me understand how to be.”
The CBBC show, which followed the Ramsay family's summer breaks, was filmed in their family kitchen and involved Tilly's siblings. She described the experience as “very relaxed” and “very normal,” noting that it took place during school holidays.
Family and Tough Love
Tilly, one of six children — alongside Megan, twins Holly and Jack, Oscar and Jesse — is the daughter of Gordon and broadcaster Tana Ramsay. In a previous interview with Country and Town House, she addressed her father's famously critical cooking style, saying it was not “tough love” but rather an effort to involve her in the kitchen. “It was, 'You can watch. If you fancy joining, I'll give you a job,'” she said. “Dad wants to always share his knowledge. He always wants to excite other people to the same level that he feels.”
Cornwall Village Boosted by Ramsay Show
Meanwhile, the Cornish village of Rock has seen a surge in tourism interest, partly attributed to Gordon Ramsay's Netflix series Being Gordon Ramsay, which showcased his retreat there. Searches for “Where is Rock in Cornwall?” and “Rock Beach Cornwall” spiked following the show's release. Elliot Walker, editor of local travel guide Cool Cornwall, commented: “We always knew Rock was pretty special. But its appearance in a top TV show has dramatically boosted its fame and appeal. It's wonderful to see more people discovering what those of us in Cornwall have quietly cherished for years.”
Walker highlighted Rock's estuary views, dune-backed sandy beaches, coastal walks, watersports, and restaurants as key attractions. “Anyone who visits Rock will understand why Gordon Ramsay has chosen this as his out-of-London retreat,” he added.
