Gogglebox fans have been left floored by a discovery that no one was expecting. The show, which airs every Friday night on Channel 4, welcomed a new bunch of TV addicts to the team at the end of 2025, including Lara Fawcett and her mother-in-law Sara.
When the 60-year-old isn't watching TV, she works in PR and has previously represented Team GB in the French Alps at the International Ice Swimming World Championships. The open air swimmer has also raised thousands of pounds for charities over the years by taking on various challenges.
A Family of Adventurers
But what viewers may not realise is that a love for adventure really does run in her family. Gogglebox star Lara is the older sister of none other than survival expert Bear Grylls.
The former SAS serviceman is famed for his various shows about what to do to survive in the wilderness, including his most famous series Man Vs Wild, with former US President Barack Obama featuring in an episode in 2015.
Bear's Nickname Origin
The 52-year-old's latest show, The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, has dropped on Prime Video today, Sunday, August 9, where he guides the cast of historical drama The Chosen across challenging terrain to examine their real spiritual journeys.
Lara has been important in his life from the very beginning as she is the reason why the expert has been nicknamed Bear for all of his life. Grylls explained to The Times: "I was christened Edward. My sister gave me the name Bear when I was a week old and it has stuck."
Family Background
Bear and Lara's father was also a prominent figure but in a very different field. Their dad was Conservative MP Sir Williams Grylls who represented Chertsey and North West Surrey between 1970 and 1997 but sadly died at age 66 in 2001.
Bear Grylls' wife Shara Grylls is also a well known writer and an author of two relationship books opening up on how to maintain a strong relationship. Bear and Shara have been married since 2001 and share three sons together.
