GB News Paused for Royal Announcement: King Charles Update

GB News presenter Cameron Walker was forced to pause a pre-recorded segment on Ladies' Day fashion as King Charles and Queen Camilla made their imminent arrival at Royal Ascot. Going live on Thursday's programme, the Royal Correspondent reported from Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Royal Procession at Ascot

"The King and Queen, of course, are expected to be here later today and the royal procession at two o'clock," Walker began. "We think the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are here as well, they're going to be presenting a trophy a little bit later on."

Walker added: "Is it going to be third time lucky for the King and Queen though, because on Tuesday their horse, Reaching High, was last in the race. Yesterday, their second horse didn't do much better." Another of their horses, Golden Orbit, was set to compete on the day.

Royal Family's Horse Racing Tradition

"Clearly, horseracing and horsebreeding runs in the blood of the Royal Family. Of course, Queen Elizabeth II was a huge racing fan and bred a number of racehorses throughout her life. She hardly missed any Royal Ascot meeting days throughout her 70-year reign actually, and clearly King Charles and Queen Camilla are keeping up with that tradition," Walker noted.

As Walker awaited the King and Queen's arrival, GB News played footage from day two of last year's Royal Ascot. A busy week for the couple, Charles and Camilla have been in attendance for the past three days. Joined by several members of the Royal Family, on Wednesday fans were delighted to see the return of Princess Catherine, following a two-year hiatus from the annual event. She was accompanied by her husband, Prince William.
