Fiona Bruce's private life: husband, children, health

Fiona Bruce, one of the UK's most beloved presenters, has been a familiar face on television since the 1990s, but her personal life remains a topic of curiosity for many fans.

Marriage to Nigel Sharrocks

Fiona has been married to Nigel Sharrocks for 30 years. Nigel is a businessman and non-executive chairman of Digital Cinema Media, which supplies cinema advertisements to Cineworld, Odeon, and Vue. Before his switch to advertising, he served as Managing Director of Warner Bros Pictures UK in the 2000s.

The couple met while working at an advertising agency and married in July 1994. Fiona has said her husband has always been 'happy to be in the background' and let her 'get on with her thing', but Nigel is a hugely successful businessman in his own right.

Children and Motherhood

Fiona and Nigel have two children: Sam, 27, and Mia, 23. Speaking about the challenges of balancing career and motherhood, Fiona once told Good Housekeeping: "Did I spend enough time with my children? I think scratch the surface of any working woman, and she will always think, 'Probably not.'"

She continued: "I don't think there's such a thing as quality time with your children. I think it's quantity. But there's never been any question that they take precedence over everything in my life, and always have done."

Health Wake-Up Call

In 2024, Fiona opened up about a "mortifying" conversation with her doctor that prompted her to change her lifestyle. The 62-year-old recounted an incident during a routine check-up when she was asked about her level of physical activity and replied "None," which drew an unexpected reaction.

Speaking with Woman and Home, she recalled: "I never did any exercise until I went to see a GP before or just after I had Sam," referring to her son. Highlighting the doctor's surprise, Fiona said she was prompted to add: "'Literally none?' I said 'no,' and I was mortified because she was so appalled."

Since then, Fiona has embraced exercise for the energy and stress relief it provides, adding: "To me, exercise isn't about living longer, but it gives me energy, and I don't know what I'd be like without it."
