Representative Ro Khanna, a Democratic member of the US House Oversight Committee, has warned that the Jeffrey Epstein scandal could spell the 'end of the monarchy'. Speaking on BBC's Newsnight on Monday, he said the Royal Family is in an extremely vulnerable position due to Prince Andrew's ties to the disgraced financier.
'The King has to answer what he knew about Andrew and just stripping him of a title is not enough,' Khanna stated, adding that it is 'not a good look for the British monarchy'. He called on Andrew, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing, to testify before Congress.
Buckingham Palace has indicated it is ready to support the police as they consider allegations against Andrew. The MP's comments come amid ongoing pressure on the Royal Family to provide further clarity on their involvement with Epstein.
