Jack Downham has broken his silence on his exit from Emmerdale, where he played Noah Dingle for 17 years, posting a farewell message on Instagram as his character left the village.
Downham joined the ITV soap, filmed in Leeds, as a permanent cast member in October 2009, at the age of six, after previously appearing as a background extra. The character of Noah was born on the show in 2004 and has been involved in major storylines, including a sinister obsession with Chloe Harris and, in 2025, being the victim of Joe Tate's kidney heist.
Noah's Departure
In Wednesday's (August 5) episode, Noah left the village after being offered a job in Düsseldorf, Germany. He initially turned it down, thinking Charity's recent struggles were due to postpartum depression, but she was actually recovering from an assault by Dr Todd. When Charity realised how excited Noah was about the job and that he hadn't been happy in the village, she decided to let him go.
After a quick goodbye in the Woolpack, Mack drove Noah to the airport.
Farewell Message
Following the scenes, Downham shared snaps from his time on the show, including a cast and crew farewell photo and a sweet image with Emma Atkins, who plays Charity. He wrote: "Noah Dingle over & out. What a bloody beautiful place to have worked for 17 years!"
His co-stars flooded the post with supportive messages. Katie Hill, who plays Sarah, said: "Can’t wait for this next chapter for you<3 exciting times ahead, love you." Joe-Warren Plant, who plays Jacob, replied: "The best of the best you are!" Shebz Miah, who plays Kammy Hadiq, wrote: "Some boy! Go out there and smash it." Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, commented: "Absolute angel. That pic of you and Emma. Can’t wait to see what you do next. The most lovely young man. We will miss you lots like jelly tots. I’ll never forget you launching yourself into that hole in the ground."
Other co-stars, including Bradley Riches, Lawrence Robb, and Bradley Johnson, also shared their well-wishes.
