Emmerdale newcomer Chelsea Edge has been showered with praise and support from one of her new castmates as her character's plan was finally exposed.
Those who follow the ITV soap, which is filmed in Leeds, were recently introduced to DS Thea Ramsden as she was brought in to investigate the recent death of Dr Caitlin Todd.
Dr Todd spent the first half of this year bullying trainee doctor Jacob Sugden at work before her attention shifted to Charity Dingle after learning that the surrogate baby she birthed for her granddaughter, Sarah Sugden, and her husband Jacob was actually the result of a one-night stand with Ross Barton.
Dr Todd's Death and Investigation
Although it started out as a blackmail mission, Dr Todd assaulted Charity after the latter rejected a kiss from her as the two briefly appeared to make a truce. Charity later reported Dr Todd, but the CPS decided there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute.
But Charity was later thrown when Dr Todd appeared in her house, having had a run-in with former flame Vanessa Woodfield, who made it clear she knew what she had done, and that she would get her comeuppance eventually.
That comeuppance was then delivered in shocking fashion, as when Sarah walked in on Charity admitting to being assaulted by Dr Todd. As Dr Todd continued to goad Charity, with her baby secret looking close to come spilling out, Sarah saw red and ended up pushing Dr Todd towards the door, but she tripped and hit her head, leaving her lifeless and in a pool of her own blood.
DS Ramsden's Scheme Revealed
DS Ramsden has since been investigating Dr Todd's murder, and during Monday's (August 17) episode of Emmerdale, she was seen paying Charity a visit at The Woolpack. Serena Sugden, who ended up being implicated in the aftermath of Dr Todd's death, was there at the time and it was later that her connection to DS Ramsden was revealed.
DS Ramsden spoke to Serena and offered her a deal, saying she'd help with the Dr Todd case if Serena kept to her word regarding the Tate family, revealing her plan to bring specifically Kim Tate down.
Co-star Support and Career Background
Following her latest scenes, Emmerdale star Lisa Riley was seen showing her support. Taking to Instagram with a picture of Chelsea as DS Ramsden, she wrote on her Story: "The best best best addition to @emmerdale both on and off screen @chelseaedge you are a absolute JOY of JOYS #emmerdale #gorg."
And it's not Chelsea's first time playing a detective. Some viewers may recognise her for playing the villainous Sophie Chambers in Death in Paradise. She was introduced in the series 12 Christmas Special, where the character framed DI Neville Parker, played by Ralf Little, for murder.
