Emmerdale Fans Predict Dr Todd's Return After Exit

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that there is more to come for Dr Caitlin Todd after she left the Dales following the assault of Charity Dingle.

Actress Caroline Harker made her Emmerdale debut as the menacing Dr Caitlin Todd earlier this year. Her storyline kicked off by focusing on her bullying of young trainee doctor, Jacob Sugden.

Viewers watched as Dr Todd consistently belittled Jacob, giving him mountains of work and then criticising his every move. When Jacob became frustrated over how he was being treated by his so-called mentor, he decided it was time to tell HR what had been happening.

Todd decided to leave her role and go into early retirement, but was still able to manipulate Jacob as she moved into the village. It was then, however, that she set her sights on her next target - Charity Dingle.

She told Charity that she knows baby Leyla is not Sarah and Jacob's. Since then, her feud with Charity continued to grow as she demanded more money from her after learning about her share of the Woolpack pub.

In a recent installment, Todd went on to kiss a drunken Charity who swiftly rejected her before falling asleep on the sofa, thinking that Todd was about to leave.

Noticing she had finished a bottle of wine, Dr Todd hovered over Charity and sneered: "Wake up. Drunk, disgusting w****! One too many? Bad, bad girl. You should know better than to lose control."

It was then that the horrific assault aired as she could be heard unzipping Charity's trousers before she awoke and realised what was happening. Begging Todd to get off her, Charity sat upright as she tried to process what had just happened to her.

Police arrived in the village to question Dr Todd who was packing up her car ready to move to Sheffield. After she was questioned over the allegations, Todd turned things back on Charity and said it was all consensual.

Sadly, DS Reid had to let her leave until any evidence came in, and as the detective asked Charity if there is anything else she needs to know that could help with the case, Charity decided not to divulge about the blackmail.

With Todd free to leave and start a new life in Sheffield, Charity watched as the former doctor was waved off by Manpreet and Vanessa. Mack found her outside and offered to comfort her, with no idea of the massive secret she is carrying on her own.

Viewers fumed over Todd being able to leave the village without facing any consequences, but some are convinced that is not the end of her story in the Dales.

On a Reddit thread, u/impossible_growth_72 wrote: "I think once Charity does open up eventually people around her will give her support to open up. If Todd has done this before which I think she has they'll be more and they'll come forward. I think that's when she gets justice or some kind of justice."

u/silverowl24 added: "I hope that Charity will eventually tell the truth to everyone (and make Chas feel stupid for the things she said to her) and even though they'll be disappointed in Charity for all the lies about baby Leyla (Sarah & Mack especially) and robbing the depot, they'll all join together in hunting and taking down Caitlin."

Another viewer, u/sum1_on_tinternet recalled Cain Dingle giving Charity his necklace, and theorised: "There definitely needs to be some sort of justice for Charity / consequences for Caitlin Todd. There was a scene recently where they showed Charity staring contemplatively at the St Christopher necklace that Cain gave her previously (along with the advice that if she ever gives it back - he'll know she needs his help). Maybe she'll end up using it soon."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
