Coronation Street star Junade Khan has revealed a personal link with his new co-star, Charlotte Tyree, as they began working together on the ITV soap. The actor, who plays Idris Nazir, took to Instagram to share that he and Tyree, who plays Sienna Milburn, both attended Norton College in Sheffield.
Family bombshell on the cobbles
Khan recently arrived on the cobbles as Idris Nazir, initially introduced as the cousin of long-standing character Alya Nazir. However, he has since dropped a family bombshell, confirming to Alya that he is actually her uncle, revealing that Yasmeen Nazir's husband, Sharif, had an affair with his mother, making him the half-brother of Alya's late father, Kal.
Meanwhile, viewers have also seen the return of Sienna Milburn, the former mentor of trainee paramedic Asha Alahan, who is now her love interest.
Thanking their drama teacher
Sharing a picture of the pair on the famous cobbles outside the Rovers Return, Khan told his followers: "Me and @tyreehairdo both went to Norton College in Sheffield and are both on Corrie atm." He added: "So we want to say a big thank you to our amazing drama teacher in Sheffield, Jo Beadle, for inspiring us and to keep believing that anything is possible. You are a brilliant teacher and we are so thankful Jo."
Their fellow castmate Vicky Myers, who plays DS Lisa Connor-Swain, responded to the post: "Love this! Absolutely adore @tyreehairdo."
Khan's journey back to Corrie
Some fans may recall Khan previously appeared in Coronation Street for two episodes in September 2008 as Saj, a short-term boyfriend of Rosie Webster. He has since revealed he considered quitting acting before landing his latest Corrie role, having worked as a bus driver for eight years while taking on occasional small acting jobs. Even a role in Game of Thrones failed to kickstart his career as he had hoped.
