Corrie fans predict Gail Platt Christmas return

Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out an epic Christmas storyline that could see the return of a Weatherfield legend. Viewers are certain a former cobbles favourite could head back in a major Sarah Platt twist, just in time for the festive period.

Sarah, played by Tina O'Brien, is currently behind bars after killing Theo Silverton in self-defence. She attacked him with a metal pole on scaffolding in April, sending him falling to the ground below. Sarah then enlisted former flame Gary Windass to cover up the crime, but despite copper boyfriend Kit Green's attempts to help her, she was arrested and sent to prison to await trial.

Fans predict Sarah's release

Now fans have suggested Sarah's potential prison release could coincide with the soap's Christmas storyline and the return of a cobbles legend. One person on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page asked: "What's everyone's prediction for Christmas on Corrie?" Another added: "I think Sarah will be out of prison by then."

A third fan suggested Sarah's mum Gail Platt could make a surprise comeback, writing: "Same, maybe Gail will come back." A fourth agreed and declared: "Yes I thought that!"

Gail's departure and potential return

In June 2024, it emerged that Gail star Helen Worth was departing the soap, with Helen stating she believed it was the "perfect time" to leave "the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world". Gail's departure centred around her wedding to Jesse Chadwick.

On Christmas Day 2024, Gail bid farewell in a poignant hour-long special after she and Jesse departed for France to begin their fresh chapter together. Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
