Messi to Wear Special Argentina Shirt in Final Game
Messi to Wear Special Argentina Shirt in Final Game

Lionel Messi will wear a special commemorative Argentina shirt for his final international appearance on Tuesday, with Adidas creating a kit featuring several subtle tributes to the legendary No 10.

After 21 years, 125 goals and a World Cup triumph, Messi will pull on the Argentina shirt for the last time when the world champions face Benin at the Monumental Stadium on October 6.

Design details of the farewell shirt

The special-edition kit retains the traditional sky-blue and white colours but adds striking gold details on the Argentina crest, numbers and what look distinctly like a set of goat horns.

The most distinctive feature is the Sun of May, a symbol from the Argentine flag, which is incorporated across the front and back of the shirt. Messi's personal logo also appears on the chest, while his name and famous number 10 are presented in gold.

Messi's social media tease

Messi himself teased the shirt on social media with the message: "Último partido… Una camiseta para toda la vida" — translated as "Last match... A shirt for a lifetime."

Availability of the commemorative collection

The commemorative collection went on sale internationally on September 25 on the Adidas website. The shirt is being sold as part of a wider Messi and Argentina collection, including other items created for the farewell.
