Hollywood actor Charlie Hunnam has been spotted in a Liverpool city centre pub while spending time in the region to film a new series. The Sons of Anarchy star was pictured with his arm around a fan inside The Flute, located on Hardman Street.
Pub's social media post
A post uploaded by The Flute this morning said: "THE FLUTE IS MASSIVE. Last night, we had a bit of a mad one as CHARLIE HUNMAN came in and had a pint and we hope he ends up telling a few mates to pop by next time. This has done wonders….for my Instagram posts and I can literally say our Friday nights at the Flute are VIP endorsed. (Of course this happens an hour after I left). FLUTE TIL WE DIE." The post has been liked by over 400 people.
Filming Legacy of Spies
The 46-year-old Emmy-nominated actor has been in the UK over the last few weeks filming the upcoming BBC and MGM+ series, Legacy of Spies. The new eight-part series is based on John le Carré's novel "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold".
First published in 1963, the novel became an instant global phenomenon, spending eight months at the top of The New York Times bestseller list. The new BBC series will bring Carré's novel to life on screen.
Filming has already taken place in Prague, but the cast and crew recently arrived in Liverpool and have been spotted around the city centre. Alongside the Sons of Anarchy star, other actors involved in the series include Matthew Macfayden, Hugh Laurie and Daniel Brühl.
Upcoming Sons of Anarchy reunion
It has been a busy month for Charlie after it was announced that many of the Sons of Anarchy cast will be reuniting for new series 'Legends'. The FX limited series is being developed and executive produced by the actor, according to Deadline.
The upcoming limited series is described as a "meta-thriller" and follows the cast of Sons of Anarchy playing themselves as they reunite "at a fan convention after more than a decade, the line between life and art blurs as the fractured brotherhood finds itself up against a real-world threat more dangerous than anything they ever faced in their show."
The series will star Charlie Hunnam as Jax, Ron Perlman as Clay, Katey Sagal as Gemma, Maggie Siff as Tara, Mark Boone Junior as Bobby, Tommy Flanagan as Chibs, Kim Coates as Tig and Theo Rossi as Juice.
Other famous faces in Liverpool
Charlie has featured as the lead in numerous films, including Pacific Rim and Green Street. He also starred in Guy Ritchie's 2019 movie The Gentleman alongside Matthew McConaughey.
Charlie isn't the only famous face to be spotted in Liverpool over recent weeks. The ECHO spotted Game of Thrones and Industry star Kit Harington filming in the city centre last week. Road closures were in place surrounding Old Hall Street for a new Channel 4 series. It is believed to be for Army of Shadows.
The show is inspired by Joseph Kessel's seminal book of the same name, which is a fictionalised account of the French Resistance during WWII. The six part series has been adapted by Ronan Bennett, who is renowned for his role as a showrunner on Top Boy, MobLand and Day of the Jackal. As well as Kit, the series stars BAFTA-winning Paddy Considine, Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winner America Ferrera and Alex Hassell. Lisa Gunning will direct all six episodes.
