Earl Charles Spencer, the younger brother of Princess Diana, has not publicly acknowledged the engagement of his daughter Lady Eliza Spencer, sparking speculation of a family rift.
Lady Eliza, 32, announced her engagement to long-term partner Channing Millerd last week, sharing photos from a romantic holiday in Santorini on Instagram with the caption 'Forever and Ever'. Her sisters Lady Kitty and Lady Amelia were quick to congratulate her, but their father has remained silent on social media despite his frequent posts.
Earl Spencer, who regularly shares insights into his life at Althorp House, posted on Monday about his book 'A Very Private School' but made no mention of Eliza's engagement. He shares Eliza, Amelia, Kitty, and their brother Louis with his first wife Victoria Aitken.
This is not the first time Charles has been absent from his daughters' weddings. He did not attend Kitty's wedding in 2021 to retail millionaire Michael Lewis, nor Amelia's wedding in 2023 in South Africa. A source previously cited a cooling relationship since his marriage to third wife Karen in 2011.
At the time of Kitty's wedding, a source told MailOnline that Charles had a 'painful and unpleasant' shoulder injury, but added that his absence was 'easier for everyone'. The children are said to be close to their mother and step-siblings, forging their own relationships without their father.
