Callum Turner, known for his role in the Fantastic Beasts Harry Potter prequel trilogy, has emerged as the bookmakers' leading candidate to become the next James Bond. With a probability rating of 40.68%, ActionNetwork.com places him well ahead of other contenders.
Turner's Rise to Fame
Turner, 36, who is married to singer Dua Lipa, gained global recognition playing Theseus, brother of Newt Scamander, in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022). He also received a British Academy Television Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in the mystery series The Capture (2019) and starred as John "Bucky" Egan in the miniseries Masters of the Air (2024).
The Bond Race
Tom Francis, Olivier Award-winning star of Sunset Boulevard, is the second favourite with a 23.08% probability, following reports he auditioned. Louis Partridge is third (18%), Harris Dickinson fourth (16.67%), and Aaron Taylor-Johnson fifth (15%). The rest of the top ten includes Jack Lowden, Jacob Elordi, Arty Froushan, Dónal Finn, and Leo Suter.
ActionNetwork.com noted: "We have been tracking James Bond odds from various bookmakers for the last 4 years, and the race to become 007 has gone through several favourites, from Regé-Jean Page to Henry Cavill to Theo James and others." They added that auditions are reportedly underway, with more expected in August.
The search for the next Bond comes nearly five years after Daniel Craig's final outing in No Time to Die. Amazon MGM Studios has taken creative control from longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, with Denis Villeneuve set to direct the next film.
