Former Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has shared the reality of how she is feeling post-radiotherapy treatment, having been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

The actress, famed for playing Liz McDonald in the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in February ahead of her first appearance in Irish soap, Fair City, and underwent radiotherapy treatment last month.
When she had finished her last radiotherapy session, having undergone 10 rounds of treatment, Beverley, 69, announced on Instagram: "I’ve done it, I’ve just finished my last radiotherapy session, fingers crossed.
"That was number ten for me and lots of people have to have lots more, I know that. But for now, that’s finished so hopefully, don’t know for sure, but hopefully I won’t need any more." The TV star's husband Jon McEwan, who filmed the video, was then heard saying: “Positive thinking, darling, that’s it.”
Beverley then added: "To be honest, I feel a bit numb. Yesterday I really struggled, but today I’ve been fine. I’ve got to see the professor again in two months and then I’ll know a lot more and mammograms and oncologists and all that, but radiotherapy is finished for now, so I’m really thrilled."

A couple of weeks on, and the soap star, who has openly documented her cancer journey on social media, has shared a fresh update, in which she told how she is having issues with her "itchy skin".
"It’s driving me insane, it's burning, it's itching," Beverley explained. "I want to [scratch] all the time. I'm not, but I want to. I'm still nauseous every now and again but maybe it's not quite as bad now. But it's just so difficult to sleep. I'll get there."
Captioning the post, in which she also spoke about preparing for her next filming days on Fair City, Beverley wrote: "A lazy couple of days… just what I needed! Although… when I’m not busy, the anxious thoughts creep back in! Can’t win really [crying laughing emoji]."
