Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have reportedly made private visits to see their mother, Sarah Ferguson, at her new rented house in the Home Counties, according to royal commentator Phil Dampier.
Sarah, the former Duchess of York, has kept a low profile since leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor earlier this year. She lost her royal standing after her and her ex-husband Prince Andrew's links to convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.
Support behind the scenes
Speaking to HELLO!, Dampier said: “Friends tell me they have both been to see her at her new house in the past couple of weeks. I don't think they want to be seen with her in public at the moment, and she probably realises it's not a good idea either, but behind the scenes they are talking and trying to be supportive.”
He added: “They're very embarrassed and are obviously sort of reevaluating their own lives and their own contacts and the things they get involved with because they don't want to be tainted by scandal. But I don't think the relationship is quite as close as it used to be, certainly.
“I think the days of them being the tripod and inseparable have been fragmented. They have grown up and gone their own ways a bit, and they've got their separate lives and separate families.”
Sarah Ferguson's year out of the spotlight
Sarah was seen at a luxury Swiss clinic earlier this year before taking refuge at the £15 million ski chalet belonging to her close friend and former boyfriend, Paddy McNally. The Formula One tycoon died in July, with Sarah moving back to a rented house in the Home Counties.
Ever since the email in which she called Epstein “a supreme friend” emerged in September 2025, Sarah has hardly been spotted anywhere. A number of charities have cut ties with her and her business ventures have closed. Her Sarah's Trust charity has also shut down.
Sarah and Andrew married in 1986 and divorced in 1996. They remained good friends and continued to live together for decades after their separation.
