Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have had a challenging year after dealing with the fallout from scandals involving their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who have been linked to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in files released earlier this year. Both deny any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.
Christmas dilemma
With the Christmas season approaching, the sisters are reportedly struggling to decide where to spend the festive period and how to avoid conflict with their parents, according to RadarOnline via Yahoo!.
A palace insider told the outlet: "The sisters are struggling to navigate the family tensions, with their loyalty to Fergie outweighing their sympathy for their father."
Family divisions
The source added: "Beatrice and Eugenie hold Andrew largely responsible for the family's predicament and fear spending Christmas together could expose the divisions between their parents."
"As a result, they are now facing an absolute minefield when it comes to Christmas, and it's taking all the excitement out of what should be a wonderful time of year," the insider continued. "They've spent months trying to keep the peace and avoid upsetting either parent. Still, the situation has become so toxic that it's almost impossible to imagine everyone sitting around the same table and enjoying themselves."
