Channel 5's beloved period drama All Creatures Great and Small is set to return later this year, with romance potentially blossoming for the quirky vet, Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West).
Dorothy's Return Sparks Hope
As fans of the show will know, guest star Maimie McCoy was introduced as Dorothy in the first series, which aired in 2020. Dorothy is a close friend of Mrs. Hall (Anna Madeley) from their days serving together in the Wrens (Women's Royal Naval Service), and she quickly caught Siegfried's eye. They shared a kiss, but before any romance could blossom between the two in Darrowby, Dorothy moved to Malta, where she stayed throughout the war.
In a welcome twist, Dorothy made a comeback during the Christmas special 2025, and she found herself sharing another embrace with Siegfried underneath the mistletoe at The Drovers.
Actress Maimie McCoy on Their Connection
"There's lots that connect them, which I think is really lovely," Dorothy actress Maimie McCoy revealed to Radio Times regarding their on-screen connection, though she remained tight-lipped about further details. She continued: "But as much as the relationship with Siegfried was interesting, the one that was really special to me was the one with Mrs Hall. I think sometimes that gets overlooked because we want to focus on the romance, but they've been in the Wrens (Women's Royal Naval Service) together, they've gone through a huge amount in terms of their journey as women through and past the war, so to go back and to give that more depth and to show more was really, really quite special."
What Will Happen in Season 7?
All Creatures Great and Small is scheduled to return following a double commission for series seven and eight, each featuring six one-hour episodes alongside Christmas Specials. While a transmission date remains unconfirmed, production on the new episodes has been ongoing for some time.
The upcoming episodes of the cherished period drama, adapted from James Herriot's novels chronicling his experiences as a Yorkshire veterinarian, are anticipated to continue from the 2025 Christmas special, which featured numerous dramatic developments.
Possible Release Window
Given that a new series of All Creatures has arrived annually since 2020, with five launching in September and one in October, series seven could be just weeks away. However, the show is yet to confirm a broadcast date and is keeping tight-lipped about specific storylines.
