Alex Jones has confessed she "hates" montages as The One Show gears up for its 20th anniversary celebrations. The confession came during Monday's episode (August 3) after a segment revisiting a wildlife story the programme had previously covered.
The BBC show is marking two decades on air with a week of special programmes featuring celebrities, reunions, and moments that have captivated viewers since the magazine-style show began in 2006. The celebrations will culminate on August 14 with an extended "One Big Night to Remember" anniversary special.
Montage confession
While discussing the upcoming anniversary, Alex told viewers: "We'll be revisiting more brilliant stories just like that to find out what happened next as part of the one show's 20th anniversary, which all kicks off Friday doesn't it?"
Her co-host Roman Kemp confirmed: "Yeah, we are going to be celebrating with a week of special programmes featuring celebrity guests, memorable reunions, surprise moments as well, and stories that have captivated viewers over the last two decades with brilliant live moments from all around the UK."
Alex then attempted to comment on the celebrations but stumbled over the word "culminate," admitting, "I can't speak!" Roman helped her with the word, and Alex joked, "I won't make it to the next celebration!" Composing herself, she continued: "The celebrations will culminate next Friday with an extended one show, our 20th anniversary special, bringing together some of the biggest things and greatest moments from the last 20 years."
Nervous about old clips
Roman teased that she was nervous about old clips they might show, and Alex agreed, saying, "I hate a montage. I do." Roman then mentioned they would love to hear from viewers who have appeared on the show or had a favourite moment. He laughed at Alex, saying she might look back and think, "I didn't like that hairstyle, I didn't like that outfit." Alex giggled in response, and Roman insisted, "It's great."
The One Show airs on BBC One at 7pm on weekdays.
