In an extraordinary tale of integrity that has warmed hearts on both sides of the Atlantic, an honest Alaskan man has been personally thanked by King Charles III after returning a lost wallet stuffed with cash.
The remarkable story began when local man Byron Dundee discovered a wallet containing a staggering $4,000 (approximately £3,000) in a car park in his hometown. Without a second thought for keeping the money, Dundee tracked down the owner, a British tourist who had been visiting the state, and returned every last dollar.
Little did he know that his act of kindness would set in motion a chain of events leading all the way to Buckingham Palace. The grateful tourist was so moved by Dundee's honesty that he wrote to the King to recount the story.
A Royal Response
Weeks later, Byron Dundee received a surprise package in the post from the United Kingdom. To his absolute astonishment, it contained a personal letter from King Charles's senior correspondence officer and a signed copy of the King's biography, 'Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story'.
The letter, dated February 7th, expressed the King's admiration for Dundee's "wonderful act of honesty". It stated that His Majesty was "touched" by the story and had asked for the gift to be sent as a token of gratitude.
