Speculation is rife that Jack Butler, a contestant on the hit BBC series The Traitors, may have walked away with the prize money after he proposed to his girlfriend on a sun-drenched holiday in Santorini.
A Promise Fulfilled in the Aegean
The 29-year-old personal trainer had vowed before the series aired that he would pop the question to his girlfriend if he won the show's cash prize. He confessed to having 'secret plans' to propose and to 'spend a bit of money taking her somewhere nice'.
True to his word, Butler was photographed in July getting down on one knee aboard a yacht sailing the Aegean Sea, just two months after filming wrapped in Scotland. While he has shared limited details publicly, he posted a snap holding his girlfriend's hand, which showcased a significant diamond ring, and referred to her as his 'new fiancée'.
Jeweller's Post Confirms Romantic Details
Further evidence of the engagement emerged via the Instagram page of jewellery brand Durham Rose, which crafted the bespoke ring. The brand shared images of the picturesque proposal, captioning the post: 'Our client's proposal is giving us all the Pinterest vibes. Dreamy Santorini, sun-kissed yacht, and a YES to this beautifully bespoke ring.'
The post confirmed the luxurious location and the couple's happy outcome, adding that the brand was 'honoured to be part of your love story'. The BBC has been contacted for comment regarding the winner rumours.
Not The Only Showmance Uncovered by Fans
Butler's engagement is not the only relationship intrigue to emerge from the latest series of The Traitors. Eagle-eyed viewers quickly suspected a connection between contestants Dr Ellie Buckley and Ross Garshong.
Suspicions were raised from the very first episode, aired on New Year's Day, when the pair, both from London, appeared overly familiar on the train to the Scottish Highlands. After Ross was banished from the game, Ellie confirmed they were in a secret relationship, telling viewers: 'I'm really sad to see him go, especially because Ross is actually my boyfriend.'
Ross expressed his amazement at the public's detective skills, telling Radio 2: 'I am shocked at the impressive investigative abilities of the British public.' He also stated his full support for Ellie to win the prize, declaring: 'Ellie all the way. Bring it back for the household.'
Their prior connection was later cemented by a group photo from a work trip in June 2024 and separate holiday snaps from Tenerife posted after filming concluded in May.
