Fans of Celebrity Traitors are already predicting which celebrity will be the first to be eliminated, with Professor Hannah Fry emerging as the leading name in online theories.
The series returns tonight (October 1) at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with 21 celebrities taking part. Last year, Alan Carr won the game as a Traitor, and this year's line-up includes actors, comedians, presenters, singers and YouTubers.
Fans fear Hannah Fry will be seen as a threat
On a Celebrity Traitors Reddit thread, one user wrote: "Genuinely think Hannah Fry will be voted first, which I'm gutted about." Hannah Fry is a broadcaster and mathematician who regularly shares her expert knowledge of social media.
Ahead of the series, Hannah revealed that she would prefer to be a Faithful. While admitting that she is "toxically competitive", she believes that the only real way that the Faithfuls can win the show is if they act as a team.
Bookies' odds place Hannah and Kenny low
Responding to the Reddit user's theory, another fan wrote: "I agree, unfortunately. Either she'll be the first to be murdered because she's deemed a threat, or she'll be banished early." A third person added: "I'm hoping she'll be like Stephen or David, both academics who made it super far despite being possible threats, but I do worry she's an inevitable early boot."
Other names being discussed are YouTuber Kenny King and comedian Miranda Hart. One viewer explained: "Following established patterns across previous series, it's hard for me not to see King Kenny as the obvious sacrificial one who's going out first. We just don't really know you, it's not personal, I'm so sorry." Another commented: "I think Miranda, being a somewhat deadpan comedian by nature will lose out quite early in the game, and garner a lot of suspicion from others early on."
According to the bookies, Hannah Fry and Kenny King have low probabilities of winning the series, at 5.9 per cent and 4.3 per cent respectively. Journalist Amol Rajan takes the bottom spot with a 3.9 per cent chance. Miranda Hart has a 15.4 per cent probability, placing her joint fourth with James Blunt.
All the drama unfolds as Celebrity Traitors kicks off tonight (October 1) at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
