BBC audiences have called for "justice" following the devastating departure of one Celebrity Traitors contestant. Thursday evening's instalment (October 15) picked up from last week's dramatic cliffhanger, which saw four participants awaiting their fate in a deadly game of hide and seek.
Deadly game of hide and seek
Departing from the standard murder format, Ross Kemp, Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were instructed to conceal themselves within the castle and await a possible knock at the door. The participant who heard the knock would subsequently encounter the Traitors before being murdered.
The Traitors selected Rob, forcing him to depart the programme instantly in heartbreaking scenes. Yet supporters were far from pleased with the outcome.
Fans demand justice
Flocking to social media, one viewer remarked: "Gutted for Rob, he needed more air time." Another stated: "We demand justice for @robbeckettcomic", while a third simply posted: "Nooooooooooooooo."
On X, distraught viewers also expressed their disappointment, with one person declaring: "I am so sad they've split Rob and Romesh." Another wrote: "gutted Rob was murdered with such little screen time and we never got to see Rob and Romesh suspecting each other."
A third concurred: "Murdering Rob seems like such a pointless decision. I would've chosen literally anyone else", while a fourth raged: "I'm so annoyed that the Traitors murdered Rob Beckett. Why would you split up the Rob and Romesh double act? I get that it's a game, but surely there should be an element of leaving people in because they're fun with other people?".
Another responded: "hannah and rob in one ep i can't take this." One viewer fumed: "I'm actually fuming Rob has gone! I'm so angry." Another simply stated they "need more" Rob on their screens.
Rob's reaction
Speaking candidly about his departure, Rob told the BBC: "I'm a bit sad because I would have liked to have gone further, but a killing in plain sight, I've managed to get a Traitor, I've got a couple of Faithfuls wrong at the banishments, I've done some Missions, done the breakfast - I feel like I've done almost all of it.
"I was really missing the kids, so I'm happy to go - the kids wanted me to do it, and I've done five episodes and been murdered. So that's enough, let daddy have a day off!".
Neatly summarising his time on the show in just three words, Rob quipped: "Don't trust anyone", before revealing his preferred winner, adding: "I want Jerry Hall to win. Jerry Hall's my pick, a rank outsider, but she's my pick."
Audiences also applauded his "iconic" response regarding the hide and seek key as he revealed: "I cannot in good faith, allow a member of Little Mix and now an unbelievable solo artist in Leigh-Anne Pinnock, go into a crypt in the middle of the night!".
"First of all, I'm a gentleman. I can't do that. Secondly, I don't want hate off the Mixers. I don't need Little Mixers on my case because I left Leigh-Anne out in the cold."
What's next
Traitor Hannah Fry was also eliminated from the castle during a tense Roundtable, but suspicion has now shifted towards Joanne McNally following a significant slip-up when she suggested she had been present at Rob's murder. With Joanne a confirmed Faithful, it remains uncertain whether her fellow contestants will accept her explanation, though fans are convinced she may face serious questioning in tonight's instalment.
Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
