Devoted viewers of the hit BBC show The Traitors believe they have cracked a code, accusing the broadcaster of inadvertently revealing the next eliminations through its companion programme, Uncloaked. The theory suggests that the guests featured on the aftershow share a telling connection with the contestant who is about to be 'murdered' or banished.
The 'Uncloaked' Clue That Gave Away Fiona's Fate
The latest evidence came with the banishment of Fiona Hughes, the 62-year-old secret Traitor from Swansea. She was voted out after a tense showdown with fellow traitor Rachel Duffy in scenes aired last week. Prior to that episode, the BBC announced the guests for that evening's Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble.
The panel featured series one traitor Amanda Lovett and Celebrity Traitors faithful Charlotte Church. As fans quickly noted, all three women – the guest stars and the soon-to-be-eliminated Fiona – are Welsh. One viewer wrote on X: 'I knew Fiona would go tonight when I saw the guests were two ex Welsh contestants and a Welsh traitor.'
A Pattern of Predictable Departures
This was not an isolated incident, according to the fan theory. Supporters point to other eliminations that followed the same apparent pattern. For example, when faithful Maz Bana, 59, was shockingly murdered in plain sight in episode five, his corresponding Uncloaked featured series three faithful Fozia Fazil, who met an identical fate in her series.
Similarly, Amanda Collier, 57, was banished after losing a risky game of Chests of Chance against Reece Ward, 27. Her Uncloaked episode included celebrity faithful Mark Bonnar – the only other person in the UK version's history to be eliminated via that specific twist.
Fan Reaction and Calls for Secrecy
The discovery has sparked a mix of admiration and frustration among the show's audience. While some hailed the deduction as 'genius', others have called on the BBC to change its approach to avoid spoiling the suspense. 'They need to keep the identity of the Uncloaked guests a secret until broadcast,' argued one viewer on social media.
Another commented: 'I don't look to see who the guests are on Uncloaked before I watch it but agree, this is a spoiler, if you know in advance!' However, some noted that the pattern is only visible to those who check the guest line-up ahead of time.
Following her exit, Fiona Hughes broke her silence, telling The Sun that her departure was 'incredibly tense' and that she was 'the master of my own downfall.' She revealed her suspicions that fellow traitor Rachel was a 'lone wolf' playing for herself, which led to her confronting her in the game. 'I needed to confront Rachel to be sure in my own mind that she was a team player and not playing singularly,' Fiona explained.
After her banishment, a guilt-ridden Stephen Libby broke down in tears, while a triumphant Rachel declared, 'I won the battle, but I need to win the war.' The Traitors continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
