The Voice UK viewers were left saying the same thing after Sir Tom Jones belted out In the Tower of Song during last night's blind auditions. The rendition also left his co-star will.i.am breaking down in tears.
Emotional reaction from co-stars
Sir Tom shared the emotional clip on Instagram, showing Kelly Rowland wiping tears from her eyes, and fans flooded the comment section with praise. Sir Tom's former co-stars Olly Murs and Anne Marie also left comments of admiration, with Olly writing, "I'm crying, love this man." Anne Marie simply penned, "I love you."
Kelly Rowland also said, "THANK YOU FOR THIS SONG!! For singing it with everything you have! We are so grateful to experience it! Love You!!!"
Fans praise the performance
One follower also noted, "It made me cry too! Flippin wonderfu," with someone else stating, "WOW! How is his voice still this incredible at his age? Just amazing…" Someone else went on, "Just wow! What a singer, makes me so proud to be Welsh. A true icon."
Following the emotional performance in which Sir Tom got a standing ovation, will.i.am was seen breaking down in tears as he calls Sir Tom a "gift". He said, "I am trying to make sense of my emotions right now. We just felt like, the most purest of hearts. 85 years of every experience you can think of in this man's sponge of a soul, and he rinsed it out for us. And we bathed in it."
Sir Tom's heartfelt words
Sir Tom and Kelly also got emotional as the Destiny's Child singer said, "Beautifully said" as Sir Tom added, "I cherish everybody in this room." Elsewhere on the show, Kelly Rowland commented on how Sir Tom was "85 years young." Sir Tom replied, "Oh, 85 years young."
As the crowd cheered, Kelly noted, "You've seen, heard so much. You have been around the world how many times? You know what I mean?" "A lot," Sir Tom said in agreement before adding, "I just love the fact that I can still sing." Kelly replied, "Amen. Your voice changes, and it continues to evolve. But yours is so strong, when you're singing, it is so strong."
