Major UK supermarkets have confirmed their opening hours for Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, with many stores operating as usual and some with reduced hours. Shoppers are urged to check local store times before travelling.
Morrisons and Tesco opening times
Morrisons has confirmed its Scottish supermarkets are open as usual, while stores in England and Wales are open from 7am to 8pm on Monday. Tesco says opening times will vary across the country, but most large stores and large Express stores in England and Wales will be open from 8am to 6pm.
Most Tesco stores in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man will operate normal hours, with no changes at standard Express stores or petrol stations. Customers can check opening times using the store locator.
Sainsbury's, Lidl and Aldi
Most Sainsbury's stores will be open from 7am until 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday, while convenience stores open as usual from 7am to 11pm. A spokesperson said: "Opening hours can vary, though, so we advise customers to check our store locator for the latest details for their area."
All Lidl stores in Scotland and those inside the M25 remain open as normal, but most stores outside the M25 and in Wales will operate reduced hours of 8am to 8pm. Aldi stores across England and Wales will be open from 8am until 8pm, with stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland operating usual hours.
Asda, Co-op and Iceland
Asda customers have been told to check local store times, though most larger stores are open at usual times. Co-op will maintain usual hours of 7am to 10pm over the weekend.
Iceland has confirmed its Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores will be open as usual across the August Bank Holiday, with standard hours in place. Restrictions may apply to stores inside shopping centres, so customers are urged to check local centre websites.
