The BBC has officially announced the launch date for the highly anticipated fourth series of its smash-hit reality show, The Traitors. Viewers won't have to wait long, as the new season is set to bring drama to the first evenings of the new year.
When and Where to Watch The Traitors Season 4
The new series will kick off on BBC One at 8pm on New Year's Day, Thursday 1 January 2025. The action will continue swiftly with the second episode airing at 8pm on Friday 2 January. The third instalment will follow at the slightly earlier time of 7.45pm on Saturday 3 January. For those who prefer to binge-watch, each episode will be available on BBC iPlayer shortly after its initial broadcast.
This new run follows closely on the success of the first celebrity edition and will see the return of the show's iconic host, Claudia Winkleman. She will once again oversee the tense psychological game as 22 new contestants enter the atmospheric Scottish castle, all competing for a chance to win a potential prize fund of up to £120,000. The identities of the new players are currently being kept secret.
Uncloaked Returns and Celebrity Success
The popular companion show, The Traitors: Uncloaked, will also be back for the new series. Hosted by Ed Gamble, the first episode of the spin-off will air on BBC Two immediately after the main show's premiere. For the rest of the series, Uncloaked will move over to BBC One.
The announcement comes after the phenomenal performance of The Celebrity Traitors, which proved to be a massive ratings winner for the BBC. The celebrity series attracted an average of 14.8 million viewers per episode. The grand final, which saw comedian Alan Carr successfully steal the entire prize pot as a Traitor, was watched by a staggering 15.2 million people, making it the most-watched TV programme of the year.
What's Next for The Traitors?
Buoyed by this success, the BBC has already confirmed that a second celebrity edition is in the pipeline, with a host of famous faces reportedly eager to take part. The last regular series, which aired in January of this year, concluded with Faithfuls Leanne and Jake claiming victory and splitting a prize pot of £94,600.
The launch of series four is a key part of the BBC's packed festive and new year schedule. This bumper line-up also includes the long-awaited return of The Night Manager for its second series, alongside festive specials of Amandaland, EastEnders, and Strictly Come Dancing.
