Rumer Willis has spoken about the special relationship between her father, Bruce Willis, and her three-year-old daughter, Louetta, amid the actor's frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. In a recent episode of Maeve Reilly's podcast The Inside Edit, the 37-year-old actress expressed gratitude that her daughter has been able to meet her grandfather.
“I love getting to go over and see him,” Rumer said. “I'm so grateful that I have a child that got to meet him because I don't know if my sisters will have that. You know, who knows?” She added that while their time together is different now, there is a sweetness and tenderness in their interactions that may not have been present before.
Rumer, who shares Louetta with ex Derek Richard Thomas, noted that her family has rallied together to support one another through the challenging situation. “We don't do it perfectly, but we're always striving to continue to create connection and find ways to be with each other,” she said.
When asked about her father's condition, Rumer explained that he is doing okay within the context of his reality, but it will never be the same as before. She previously shared that there are times when Bruce does not recognise her, but she finds comfort in the fact that he can still feel her love.
Bruce Willis, 69, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023. He receives 24-hour care and lives separately from his wife, Emma Heming Willis, and their two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn. Rumer is the eldest daughter of Bruce and his ex-wife, Demi Moore, with whom he also shares daughters Scout and Tallulah.
