Sunday Brunch was thrown into an unexpected spot of chaos during Sunday's live broadcast, leaving stand-in host Yinka Bokinni scrambling to find out exactly what was going on. The Channel 4 hit show was in full swing when Yinka was left questioning what was happening behind-the-scenes after a series of text alerts could be heard during the broadcast.
The awkward disruption unfolded at a particularly unfortunate moment, just as Yinka, who was presenting alongside Simon Rimmer in place of regular host Tim Lovejoy, were preparing to welcome Anita-Joy Uwajeh onto the show. "Before we get into speaking to you, what was happening? Because I could hear texts. What is going on?" she asked.
Technical hiccup revealed
Anita quickly revealed that the programme had encountered a technical hiccup, although she was reluctant to identify exactly who had been responsible. "I don't want to grass anybody up, but we had a bit of a technical situation," she explained.
It soon became apparent that the problem involved Su Pollard and her phone, prompting laughter among those in the studio. Anita teased that Su had been attempting to work out how to use the device, jokingly describing it as more of a "portable machine" than a piece of modern technology.

The unexpected exchange proved particularly amusing for GK Barry, who Anita said was "really enjoying it" as the studio reacted to the mishap. Rather than allowing the interruption to derail the programme, Yinka turned to the production team to establish whether the offending noise had finally been stopped.
Once it appeared the problem had been resolved, Yinka brushed off the incident with a knowing remark about the unpredictable nature of broadcasting. "It's the beauty of being live," she said. The moment was a reminder that, unlike pre-recorded television, live programmes leave presenters with little choice but to react when something goes wrong.
Guest line-up and Yinka's hosting history
Sunday Brunch regularly combines celebrity interviews with food, entertainment and music, with presenters often having to think on their feet when unexpected moments occur. There was plenty more for viewers to enjoy during the latest edition, with the guest line-up including singer Paul Heaton, EastEnders star Su Pollard and social media personality GK Barry. Everlast, Gary Wilmot and Anita-Joy Uwajeh also appeared, while Casualty star Elinor Lawless joined the presenters to discuss the long-running BBC medical drama's 40th anniversary celebrations.
Yinka was standing in for regular presenter Tim Lovejoy, joining Simon Rimmer for the latest edition of the Channel 4 show. It's not the first time Yinka has taken on hosting duties as earlier this year, she had stepped in to replace Simon Rimmer while he was on holiday. At the time, Tim congratulated Yinka after she announced her second pregnancy. During the episode Tim gifted Yinka a white baby grow with the show's logo across the front. "Yinka, we've got something for you as well because you announced this week that you're pregnant, we've got [this] for you," Tim said, as he gave his co-star a gold box.
Yinka was visibly delighted when the tiny outfit was revealed, exclaiming that it was "so cute" as those around her broke into applause. She then poked fun at the size of the outfit, telling Tim she was not convinced it would fit and joking: "You should have got a different size, I'm a growing lady!" Tim congratulated her, prompting Yinka to warmly thank him for the gesture. Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday from 10am on Channel 4.
