Strictly Come Dancing fans were left distracted during Movie Week after spotting a key detail seemingly missing from the show. The hit BBC One series returned last weekend with a fresh group of celebrities, and tonight's episode (October 3) marked the second live show of the series.
Hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe returned to the helm alongside judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Craig Revel Horwood. This week is Movie Week, with the 15 celebrities and their professional partners performing routines to songs made famous on the big screen.
Judges skip Movie Week costumes
The episode started with a special professionals routine, which saw the dancers perform a Zootropolis-inspired dance to Shakira's Try Everything and Zoo. However, just minutes into the show, viewers were distracted after realising the judges were not dressed up to relate to the Movie Week theme, something fans say they used to do.
Taking to X, one person shared their confusion: "Don’t the judges usually dress up as movie characters for Movie Week??" Another said: "Why aren't the judges dressed as movie characters? They usually are on Movie Week."
A third wrote: "Sorry, why aren’t the judges dressed up?! Total vibe is missing", as a fourth added: "Don’t the judges usually dress up for movie week??" A fifth commented: "Surprised the Judges haven't dressed up." A sixth viewer penned: "Are the judges not usually done up for movie week? Or it is musicals week?"
Leaderboard and upcoming elimination
Last weekend marked the first live show, which saw John Nellis and Katya Jones claim the top spot on the leader board with 31 points, with Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington close behind with 29 points. Melanie Walters, Shaun-Wright Phillips and Sarah Storey found themselves at the other end of the scoring, with each of them earning 15 points from the judges. The scoring will carry over to this week.
There was no live elimination, however, as this will take place in tomorrow's episode (October 4). After the judges' scores and the viewers' votes are counted, the bottom two will face the first dance off this year. The pair who fail to impress the judges will be forced to say their goodbyes and will see their journey cut short before the remaining celebrities take to the stage once again next weekend.
Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
