Strictly fans 'gutted' as Icons Week exit leaked online

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left saying the same thing as the latest departure following Icons Week was revealed. The BBC contest resumed on Saturday, 17 October, with the remaining celebrities hitting the dance floor after celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton and his partner Amy Dowden, along with Gavin and Stacey star Melanie Walters and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec were sent home in the first weeks.

Icons Week tributes and leaderboard

Icons Week had the stars impersonating Madonna in a professional dancers routine, and honouring some legendary figures from Aretha Franklin and David Bowie to James Brown and Elton John. Meanwhile, Shirley Ballas appeared as Lady Gaga, Motsi Mabuse channelled Beyonce, and Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke transformed into Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher.

The leaderboard saw Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu at the top with their Paso Doble, scoring a joint 34 points with Love Island star Cach Mercer and Maddie Ingoldsby, who performed a Foxtrot. They were followed by Will Best and Dianne Buswell's Jive, which scored 31, reports Wales Online.

Meanwhile, Dame Sarah Storey and Julian Caillon found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard, earning 21 points for their Tango, while Dani Dyer and Nikita Kuzmin received 25 for their Rumba.

Fans react to leaked results

Following Saturday evening's performance, spoilers about the dance-off and results, which air on Sunday night each week but are prerecorded, were leaked online. After the results were prematurely revealed online, one fan confessed: "That's a shame." Another echoed their disappointment, expressing they were "really sad" about who was eliminated, adding: "They still had potential and were gradually improving each week."

Another viewer expressed they were "absolutely gutted for the couple that left". They added: "As I thought it was the song and theme which sealed their fate as the song didn't match dance style. I'm really shocked about the other couple who were in the bottom 2 but they didn't have their best dance this week."

Someone else stated they were "sad to see" the celebrity leave, while another agreed: "Gosh gutted for the couple who left. But sadly saw it coming. "Bit surprised by this bottom two," one fan penned. Yet another echoed: "Right person left, gutted [for the other star in the dance off]."

Delta Goodrem sidelined by injury

One contestant was forced to sit out of the competition this week, following news that Delta Goodrem had sustained a rib injury. The BBC had previously announced: "Due to injury, Delta Goodrem has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance on this weekend's Strictly Come Dancing.

"In line with the rules of the show, Delta and Kai will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again. We wish Delta the very best as she continues her recovery."

Delta added in her own statement that she was "gutted", saying: "I’m absolutely gutted that a rib injury means I won’t be able to dance on Strictly this week. I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this one out is heartbreaking - especially after the high of Saturday night.

"I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I’m going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I’ll be back on that dancefloor very soon. Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support. It’s so appreciated. I’ll be cheering everyone on from the sidelines this week! Sending all my love, Delta xx."

The Strictly Come Dancing results show airs from 7.10pm on Sunday on BBC One and iPlayer, while the competition continues next Saturday at 6.30pm.
