Strictly Fans Demand La Voix as New Host After Hilarious Backstage Clip
Strictly Fans Demand La Voix as New Host After Viral Clip

Devoted fans of Strictly Come Dancing have launched a passionate campaign for the BBC to hire former contestant La Voix as the show's next main presenter. The call comes after a wildly popular behind-the-scenes video featuring the drag queen, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, sent social media into a frenzy.

From Dance Floor Injury to Front-Runner

La Voix, a renowned drag performer, was forced to exit the 2025 series of Strictly after suffering an injury. However, the BBC swiftly hired her to present a series of backstage YouTube videos for the programme. A clip released this week, filmed ahead of Musicals Week, shows La Voix giving fans a tour of the studios, culminating in a hilarious encounter with host Claudia Winkleman in her dressing room.

The candid moment has led viewers to suggest that La Voix would be the ideal replacement for Claudia and her co-presenter Tess Daly, who are both departing the show after this weekend's final.

A Viral Oompa Loompa Comparison

In the now-viral clip, La Voix spots a photo of Claudia trying on one of her Strictly outfits and pulls the presenter aside. "Can I just say something, you might be really offended," La Voix begins, before referencing the infamous 2024 Willy Wonka Experience. "Do you remember that disastrous Willy Wonka thing, there was that Oompa Loompa who was depressed... I've just seen this picture on here and that's very similar."

Declaring, "You've got to take that off your wall immediately," La Voix left Claudia in stitches. Fans adored the exchange, with one writing on Instagram: 'Please find space for La Voix on SCD 2026.' Another agreed, commenting: 'Okay well that's one of the new hosts sorted, good, thanks BBC for picking this up so fast.'

Live On-Air Job Application

This is not the first time La Voix has publicly angled for the presenting role. Just hours after Claudia and Tess announced their shock departure earlier in the series, the Drag Race UK star seized a live broadcast opportunity.

As Claudia teased her own dance performance for Icons Week, La Voix interjected: "Claudia, while I’ve got you, do you know the address when you send your CV to the BBC? Just in case any new jobs are coming up. I'm just asking for a friend."

A laughing Claudia led her to the centre of the shot, encouraging her to "give it a go." Demonstrating quick wit, La Voix simply uttered "Tess," effectively handing over the main studio to her co-host and sending the entire room into laughter.

Who Else Is In The Running?

The campaign for La Voix comes as the BBC prepares to screen-test potential replacements. It was revealed last week that ten stars are set to audition next month. Frontrunners are thought to include Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh, Alex Jones, and Alan Carr.

They will face competition from Rylan Clark, Rob Rinder, Zoe Ball, Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden, and Angela Scanlon. However, Alison Hammond's position may be solidified elsewhere, as it was confirmed on Wednesday that the 50-year-old has renewed her contract with ITV's This Morning through 2026, where a source says she is "very happy."

With the search for new Strictly Come Dancing hosts in full swing, the overwhelming fan reaction to La Voix's charm and humour has undoubtedly thrown a glitter-covered spanner into the works, making her a dark horse candidate for one of British television's most coveted presenting jobs.
