Steve Jones lands Radio X Sunday morning show

Rhondda-born TV host Steve Jones has a new job. The Tylorstown star, who has been the face of Channel 4's Formula One coverage since 2016, will present the Sunday morning show on Radio X between 8am and 11am, starting on Sunday, October 4.

Radio debut excitement

Steve, 49, said he was excited for his radio debut, saying: "I’ve been listening to Radio X since day one because it’s got the trifecta that all radio stations aim for. Great presenters, great music, and fantastic listeners. I am beyond thrilled to enter the fray. Can’t wait to get started on Sunday mornings…unless this is all a fevered cheese dream of course."

The new post isn't too far removed from where Steve started in the early 00s as host of ITV Wales show The Pop Factory, filmed in Porth at the former Welsh Hills Works and which saw chart acts of the time, including Stereophonics, Elbow, Victoria Beckham and Sophie Ellis-Bextor appear.

Career highlights

After that he hit the big time, landing a presenter role on Channel 4's T4 - he was the T4 frontman for seven years from 2003 during which time he met and dated the likes of Pamela Anderson, Fearne Cotton and Alex Jones. In 2011, Steve was announced as The X Factor USA presenter and in 2012 he hosted Let's Dance for Sport Relief for the BBC.

Since 2016, Steve has fronted the F1 highlights on Channel 4 and he's also had a few other presenting gigs on the channel, including My Kitchen Rules: UK and Weekend Kitchen with Waitrose alongside Lisa Snowdon. In 2022, Steve presented the property series Perfect House, Secret Location. Back in 2023 Steve appeared in a hosting role on This Morning after Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield's departure. He also released his debut novel Call Time in May.

Radio X welcome

Matt Deverson, Managing Editor of Radio X, added: "Steve is a fantastic addition to Radio X. He’s an accomplished broadcaster with a real passion for music, and his humour and personality make him a perfect fit for the station. We’re delighted to welcome him to the Radio X family."
