Six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy has revealed that The Traitors would be the only reality TV show he would appear on. The 50-year-old opened up about his wish to join the popular BBC programme during his appearance in Arnold Clark's Stars in Cars social media series.
Hoy's choice: Traitor over Faithful
Host Ryan Wilson asked the Team GB icon which reality show he would feature on if given the opportunity. Hoy immediately answered: "I think there is only one that I'd like to go on. The Traitors."
Hoy would not want to appear just to make up the numbers, however, as he admitted he would prefer to take risks if he appeared on the show. When asked whether he would rather be a Faithful or a Traitor, the Scotsman said: "Oh, you have got to be a Traitor."
Celebrity Traitors season two cast
Hoy's admission comes as fans of the hit show prepare for the second instalment of the programme's celebrity edition. Taking place in the Scottish Highlands, host Claudia Winkleman will welcome the likes of James Blunt, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Maya Jama as part of the star-studded cast.
The rest of the contestants include Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Health update and positive outlook
The cycling legend has endured a difficult few years after being diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer almost three years ago. Hoy's wife, Sarra, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis shortly after his diagnosis, but the former athlete has made it his mission to make a positive impact in the fight against cancer.
He has raised millions of pounds for UK cancer charities and recently opened up about his health status when speaking to BBC Breakfast presenter Jane Lewis. He said: "I am doing really well just now. My wife and I talk about it a lot and remind ourselves how lucky we are that we both have illnesses which are treatable."
Hoy did insist that his experience is not one felt by those diagnosed with cancer. He explained: "Mine's not curable, but it's treatable, and not every man is as lucky as me in terms of the reaction to the treatment.
"Some don't have such a positive reaction. So far, I've had a really positive reaction to it. Long may that continue. It won't last forever, but there are other lines of defence, and beyond that, the hope is that new medicines and new treatments are coming out all the time.
"You can spend your time sitting, worrying about the future, but that doesn't help you in any shape or form. Once you've faced it and planned for it, you have to get into the present and appreciate it, and know that anything could happen at any time."
