Sharon Rooney says 'Glasgow Girl' status will aid Celebrity Traitors bid
Sharon Rooney: 'Glasgow Girl' status will help on Celebrity Traitors

Sharon Rooney has said being a 'Glasgow Girl' will help her on Celebrity Traitors, which returned to TV screens on October 1. The actress, best known for My Mad Fat Diary and Two Doors Down, is officially a Faithful and will work to identify the Traitors among 21 celebrities playing for charity.

Relying on Scottish Roots

In the first episode, Rooney explained her tactics. "As a fan of the show, I always laugh when people play really strong and wrong," she said. "As a Glasgow girl I'm quite good at being nosey and I like to think I'm a good judge of character. But I think this show's going to really, really test that."

The 37-year-old previously revealed she wanted to be a Faithful because she cannot lie and lacks a poker face despite being an actor. In an interview with Claudia Winkleman on BBC iPlayer's Traitor or Faithful? Claudia Decides, she said: "I wanted to be a Faithful because I'm not good at lying. I hate lying, I never lie and I don't have a good poker face. And then I realised, I'm a Glasgow girl and I can do anything I put my mind to."

Targeting Richard E Grant

When Winkleman asked who she would eliminate first, Rooney named Richard E Grant, aiming to take out a "big dog" early. Grant has since been revealed as a Traitor alongside Maya Jama, and he announced his role to castmates, shocking viewers.

With twists ahead, including a third Traitor being chosen, fans backing Rooney will hope she stays sharp as the game continues. Celebrity Traitors airs every Thursday and Friday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
