Sarah Platt will finally learn whether she has been found guilty of Theo Silverton's murder in Monday's (October 19) visit to Weatherfield, as her trial concludes and the jury begins deliberations.
The ITV soap, filmed in Salford, has seen Sarah take the stand alongside a number of people she knows, after she admitted to killing the builder. The reveal came in flashback scenes aired in June, weeks after Theo's lifeless body was found by Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor.
The flashbacks showed Sarah being confronted by Theo, having lured her to his flat. Fearing for her life, she appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off the scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground, before she called on her former flame, Gary Windass, for help.
Murder investigation and confession
With a murder investigation already underway, Theo's husband, Todd Grimshaw, was a suspect, along with his loved ones George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Theo's friend-turned-enemy Gary, and Theo's ex-wife Danielle Silverton. Sarah was trying to keep her murderous secret.
However, as Todd struggled in the aftermath of his abusive husband's murder, Sarah confessed the truth to her best friend, while her partner, DC Kit Green, found out when she admitted to killing Theo as he was trying to pop the question. Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo. She was later charged as evidence stacked against her, and Sarah ended up admitting to the murder, telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain it was in self-defence.
After spending months behind bars on remand, Sarah was seen heading to court in this week's Corrie, and things weren't looking good when it came to her fight for freedom.
Trial evidence and witness testimony
During Wednesday's (October 14) episode, the trial was seen getting underway. Sarah's family, Bethany, David and Shona Platt, and her former husband Adam Barlow, all headed to court, and listened as Sarah appeared in the dock. The prosecution barrister told the jury that Sarah had attacked Theo in support of her best friend Todd Grimshaw, after learning of his abuse at the hands of his husband.
Lisa and Theo's ex-wife Danielle were seen giving their evidence, which didn't go in Sarah's favour. The accused was taken back to her cell when she protested her innocence and went against Danielle in telling the jury that Theo was abusive.
On Thursday (October 15), it was Todd's turn to speak. After initially avoiding heading to court, with some words from Tyrone Dobbes, the undertaker took to the stand and told the judge and jury exactly what Theo was like, and about the abuse he had suffered at his hands. However, the prosecution barrister didn't make it easy for him, questioning whether he thought Sarah was capable of purposely committing murder, and even suggested it was revenge for what he had done to her best friend.
His comments didn't appear to do Sarah any favours, despite his best efforts. As seen in Friday's (October 16) Corrie, it was Gary's turn to be questioned, and after some convincing from the Platt family, Kit also appeared in court, where he said that his ex wasn't a murderer, and that it was clear she'd acted in self-defence.
Verdict and future on the cobbles
As the deliberations got underway, Sarah was clearly worried and preparing for the worst. Corrie viewers will have to wait to learn Sarah's fate, as new spoilers for next week's Corrie have confirmed that she will finally learn whether she has been found guilty of Theo's murder in Monday's (October 19) visit to Weatherfield.
Sarah actress Tina O'Brien has recently been speaking about her two decades on the cobbles, and teased whether her future remains in Weatherfield. She told Bella magazine: "I am really happy here at Corrie. Do I want to do it forever? I don't know, but I am very grateful for a job I genuinely love."
