Reality TV star Sam Thompson has made a light-hearted confession about the aftermath of his split from ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott, revealing she took a prized possession: his favourite pair of Crocs.
The Post-Breakup Confession
The 33-year-old Made in Chelsea personality shared the anecdote during the latest episode of his Staying Relevant podcast, co-hosted by his best friend, former TOWIE star Pete Wicks, 37. The conversation turned to fashion when Pete asked Sam what he would wear to a glamorous event.
Sam immediately suggested his Crocs for 'shock value', prompting Pete to note he hadn't worn them for a while. Sam then confessed, 'Yeah, Zara took them,' to which a shocked Pete could only reply, 'Oh god.' Sam quickly moved on, stating he needed to buy a new pair as he currently owns none.
The couple, who had been together for five years, ended their relationship in January after reportedly growing apart. Their time together included extensive travel and building a home.
A New Romance Blossoms
This confession comes just days after Sam excitedly announced he is officially in a new relationship. He confirmed to Pete on their podcast that he has made things official with 25-year-old model Talitha Balinska after a few months of dating.
He described the low-key moment he asked her to be his girlfriend over dinner, saying, 'I'd love to be your boyfriend.' Sam emphasised the relationship feels different, stating he feels comfortable and able to be himself. The pair were set up by Sam's friend and former Made in Chelsea co-star, Reza Amiri-Garroussi.
In a subtle dig at his past relationship with Zara, Sam indicated he has no plans to make his new romance 'Instagram official' in the same way. He told Pete, 'I've done that before and I want to do a complete opposite of that this time...' This is a reference to the frequent social media posts he and Zara shared, including festive photos in matching pyjamas with their pet cats.
Moving On in the Public Eye
Both former partners have moved on with high-profile new relationships. Zara McDermott is now dating One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, who recently said he is 'so in love' with her. Sam has even joked about the pairing, playing One Direction's 'Steal My Girl' at his recent O2 Arena show.
Meanwhile, Sam's new girlfriend, Talitha, appears to have been welcomed by his family. His sister, fellow Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson, has shared photos of them together, and Sam plans to take Talitha on a family skiing trip in the New Year.
