Comedian and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Ruby Wax has predicted dramatic changes to the jungle's social atmosphere following the arrival of two new campmates, TV presenter Vogue Williams and Celebs Go Dating's Tom Read Wilson.
The 72-year-old British-American star voiced her concerns during Thursday's episode on ITV, suggesting the camp's equilibrium would be fundamentally altered after Williams and Wilson were instated as "chief explorers".
Lord of the Flies Dynamic Emerges
Speaking to the Bush Telegraph, Wax didn't hold back her apprehensions about the new power structure. "I think the dynamic is going to change now with the two chiefs here," she stated. "I really do feel like it's kind of Lord Of The Flies, there's two sides and we may annihilate each other, or we may fall in love."
Her concerns found support from fellow camper Jack Osbourne, son of Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne, who expressed clear resistance to the newcomers. "I feel resistance to Vogue and Tom," Osbourne admitted. "I'm just kind of like, 'hey you don't get to walk in halfway through the movie and decide to turn it off or change it...'"
Chief Explorators Take Command
The new roles for Williams, 40, and 39-year-old Wilson came with significant authority, granting them power to delegate chores and distribute coveted bush explorer badges that offer various rewards. Presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announced the pair would serve as Bush Explorers for three days, providing guidance, support and leadership to the existing campmates.
The appointment coincided with the Camp Fright bush tucker trial, which saw three celebrities attempt to win stars for camp:
- Model Kelly Brook successfully completed 'Knot Much Fun' amidst mealworms, cockroaches, crickets, scorpions and giant cockroaches, winning four stars
- Social media star Morgan Burtwistle (Angryginge) overcame his fear of huntsmen spiders in 'Rotten Removals', securing another four stars
- Rapper Aitch failed to eat four raw fish eyes in 'Harshmallows', meaning he didn't win any stars
With eight stars secured from a possible twelve, the chief explorers presented their first bravery badge to Burtwistle for conquering his spider fear.
New Regime Implements Camp Restructure
The new leadership didn't waste time implementing changes, immediately assigning camp duties to all celebrities:
- Camp chefs: Brook and Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp
- Washing up: Wax and EastEnders star Lisa Riley
- Water duty: Burtwistle and comedian Eddie Kadi
- Wood duty: Former Lioness Alex Scott and Aitch
- Dunny duty: Osbourne and actress Shona McGarty
The chief explorers distributed three additional community badges to Brook, Riley and Osbourne, rewarding them with hot chocolate and marshmallows around the campfire at Snake Rock.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues airing at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player, with I'm A Celebrity... Unpacked following nightly on ITV2, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
