Rob Beckett has opened up about his friendship with Josh Widdicombe, admitting the pair often "have a go" at each other while filming. Alongside his Strictly Come Dancing duties, Josh fronts the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob, who is currently part of the Celebrity Traitors cast.
Six years of podcasting together
The duo have been hosting the show for six years, releasing two episodes a week. With so much time spent together, Rob admits the pair can sometimes bicker, proving just how close they are.
Asked on the Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast what it was like working with Josh, Rob said: "He's genuinely a really kind and caring person and so funny and really collaboratively funny."
"So we're not desperately trying to outdo each other, we sort of collaborate and you know, he has a go at me and sometimes I have a go at him but we're proper friends and it's not... there's no edge to it."
Commitment to the show
The 40-year-old also praised Josh for his commitment to the show, adding: "We've done two episodes a week now for six years non-stop pumping that out and I think you have to because the audience rely on it, like they get the hump if it's not there."
Josh gained some new co-stars earlier this year when he, Johannes Radebe and Emma Willis were announced as Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman's replacements on Strictly Come Dancing. Tess and Claudia announced that the 2025 series would be their last midway through the run, leaving their colleagues and fans in shock.
Mixed reactions to new presenters
Since the new trio was announced, viewers have had mixed reactions, with many questioning the need for three presenters. Josh, in particular, has faced backlash, which he seemingly joked about during an episode of Strictly: It Takes Two.
Discussing the first live episode alongside Emma and Johannes on Strictly: It Takes Two with host Ellie Taylor, he said: "It's been very low key since, no one's talked to me about it."
As the conversation continued, the trio discussed the nerves they felt on the night. Emma then turned to Josh and said: "I feel really sorry for you, you're on that side of the stairs by yourself and me and Jojo are on the other side." He replied, joking that he wasn't alone because he was in the presence of judge Craig Revel Horwood.
The series' first live show last weekend saw all 15 couples take to the dance floor, with Movie Week next as the dancing duos aim to avoid the first vote-off. Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.15pm on BBC One.
