Rob Beckett was murdered by the Traitors on Celebrity Traitors and forced to leave the castle immediately. The comedian was killed face-to-face by James Acaster, Maya Jama and Professor Hannah Fry during Thursday's episode (October 15).
Face-to-face murder
Four Faithfuls — Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp and Rob Beckett — had been hidden in the castle's grounds, waiting for a knock at the door. It was Rob who was ultimately killed, with James telling him: "Rob Beckett, you have been murdered."
Rob said: "It's over, I'm a dead man." He added: "It's been amazing, I will cherish my memories," before vowing that his best friend Romesh would be avenging his death.
Devastated friend
Romesh heartbreakingly told cameras: "I feel like I let Rob down, because Rob is so unthreatening that he's never going to get banished. He's the guy that we should have given the key to, and he also happens to be one of my best friends. I'm sad, it's not going to be the same without him."
Viewers were left gutted over Rob's exit, with one writing: "I'm absolutely gutted that Rob has gone." Another said: "It's actually sick to split up Romesh and Rob." "Fuming they've split up Rob and Rom," another agreed. Someone else added: "Gutted for Rob, he was fantastic." Yet another wrote: "Who do you mean I'm crying over Romesh getting upset that Rob is gone?"
Rob's love for the show
Ahead of the new series airing, which also sees James Blunt, Miranda Hart and Michael Sheen in the cast, Rob shared how much he loved the show. He said: "Me and my family loved the first one. I watched it with the kids. It's first thing we watched as a family that we all enjoyed at the same time. We watched the final together on holiday and had a great time. So, the family are all behind me and really happy and supportive."
Talking about being on the programme with other comedians and friends of his, he said: "It's quite a reflective moment to consider this journey we’ve all gone on to now be on the biggest show on TV. Everyone wants to be on it, and we're very lucky to be here and to be here with friends and people that I've come through the ranks with and been able to confide in over the years. It's quite nice to see all of us here as grown-ups."
The Traitors continues on Friday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
