Rob Beckett was dramatically eliminated from Celebrity Traitors after being murdered face-to-face by the three Traitors on Thursday (October 15). The comedian was one of four Faithfuls hidden in the castle's grounds, anxiously awaiting a knock at the door, alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Romesh Ranganathan and Ross Kemp.
James Acaster delivered the blow, telling Rob: "Rob Beckett, you have been murdered." Rob responded: "It's over, I'm a dead man." He went on to say: "It's been amazing, I will cherish my memories," before pledging that his best friend Romesh would be seeking revenge on his behalf.
Romesh left devastated by best friend's exit
An emotional Romesh told cameras: "I feel like I let Rob down, because Rob is so unthreatening that he's never going to get banished. He's the guy that we should have given the key to, and he also happens to be one of my best friends. I'm sad, it's not going to be the same without him."
Audiences were devastated by Rob's departure, with one viewer writing: "I'm absolutely gutted that Rob has gone." Another lamented: "It's actually sick to split up Romesh and Rob." "Fuming they've split up Rob and Rom," echoed another. Someone else added: "Gutted for Rob, he was fantastic." Yet another wrote: "Who do you mean I'm crying over Romesh getting upset that Rob is gone?"
Rob's enthusiasm before the series
Ahead of the new series, which also sees James Blunt, Miranda Hart and Michael Sheen in the cast, Rob discussed his enthusiasm for the programme. He explained: "Me and my family loved the first one. I watched it with the kids. It's first thing we watched as a family that we all enjoyed at the same time. We watched the final together on holiday and had a great time. So, the family are all behind me and really happy and supportive."
Reflecting on appearing alongside fellow comedians and mates, he remarked: "It's quite a reflective moment to consider this journey we've all gone on to now be on the biggest show on TV." He added: "Everyone wants to be on it, and we're very lucky to be here and to be here with friends and people that I've come through the ranks with and been able to confide in over the years. It's quite nice to see all of us here as grown-ups."
The Celebrity Traitors continues on Friday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
