Prince Harry is reportedly in talks to produce a documentary about his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and is said to be "trying to woo" his uncle, Earl Spencer, into appearing in it.
The 42-year-old royal is said to be engaging in discussions about making the documentary, with the 30th anniversary of Diana's death set for next August. Diana died in 1997 at the age of 36, when Harry was just 12 and his older brother, Prince William, was 15.
Earl Spencer's memoir and the documentary plans
Earl Spencer released his new memoir, Swan Song, earlier this week. Harry is said to have been "completely fine" with the book's release. With the anniversary approaching, Diana's youngest son reportedly wants to mark the day in the "most meaningful way".
Harry has reportedly approached many people who knew his late mother, both friends and family, to take part in the documentary. His uncle, who has featured in many interviews this week amid his book's release, is among those approached.
Royal journalist's comments
Royal journalist Tom Sykes told Page Six: "There is no denying [Spencer] is a big name, and he will give the documentary credibility. So [the Sussexes] need to woo him and get him onside."
He added: "What Harry and Meghan are actually doing back in the UK is finally revealed — they are making a Diana film, and Spencer is likely being lined up as its star."
Speaking of the Earl, Sykes said: "He would not have made that comment unless he had been given the nod to say, in effect, that Harry and Meghan are behind it."
Harry and Meghan's UK return
Harry and Meghan returned to the UK at the end of August and have officially been back for one month today. The couple are believed to be residing in the Cotswolds with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
