A person and two dogs were rescued from a burning building in Tranmere last night. Ten fire engines were called to the scene in Dial Road, where a garage business and an adjoining property had caught fire.
Fire crews respond to Dial Road incident
Fire crews arrived at around 11.35pm on Friday, September 25 and found Dial Tyres business on fire along with a two-storey house next to it. One person was rescued from a bedroom, while two dogs were also rescued from the burning property.
The ECHO visited the scene this morning while firefighters were still in attendance. Jay White, who lives locally, said: "I have just been for a look inside and it's absolutely melted bro. There is nothing left in there."
Firefighting continues through the night
In an update shared this morning, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighting continued through the night across an area of around 40 x 50 metres. The building is in confined area surrounded by terraced houses and the garage contains around 40 vehicles."
"The Incident Command Unit and water bowsers from United Utilities were set up to ensure water supply and the firefighting area remained divided into sectors. At the height of the incident there were 14 fire engines and an aerial appliance at the scene."
Multi-agency response and road closures
"A structural engineer and a Wirral council emergency planning officer attended and a further multi agency meeting took place. The main body of fire was extinguished at around 5.40 am with firefighters damping down the area and checking for hot spots to ensure the fire is fully extinguished."
"Scottish power are in attendance and are digging at the scene in order to isolate the electricity to the site. Five fire engines remain at the scene."
Road closures are still in place on Greenway Road and Church Road, with a warning to avoid the area.
