Olivia Bromley teases Dawn exit and Emmerdale stunts

Emmerdale's Olivia Bromley has teased whether Dawn Taylor is leaving the show as her character's wedding to Joe Tate ends in tragedy next week. The actress, 30, who plays Dawn, revealed there will be "chaos, stunts, twists and turns" alongside "beautiful, loving moments" in the upcoming episodes.

Dawn's dilemma

Pregnant Dawn is torn between marrying villain Joe and running away with her ex-husband Billy Fletcher. Bromley said: "Dawn should have chosen Billy all along, and I think everybody feels the same. The problem is, she's in love with Joe. She really loves the wrong man. It would be so simple if she had just stayed with Billy, she's got these beautiful children and if they could just run off into the sunset. That's what I want for her."

As the wedding approaches, Dawn and Billy plot to escape the village with the help of Billy's boss Caleb Miligan, played by Will Ash. Caleb has his own feud with Joe and uses Dawn and Billy's dilemma to take revenge.

Danger and stunts

Bromley warned that Billy and Dawn could be in danger when Joe finds out their plan. She said: "There's a lot at stake. She's got her children, she's got her family, and she's going to just do a runaway on the day of the wedding. She thinks Joe has the capability of trying to kill someone."

On whether Dawn and Billy get their happy ending, she teased: "Every time she gets so close to having it, and then somehow sabotages it, but she's also been dealt a very rough hand time and time again."

Bromley enjoyed filming the action-packed episodes, describing a five-week shoot with "loads of stunts" and careful costume planning. She said: "It's not a simple wedding day, and it involves a lot of action, so we had to think about that with the costumes as well."

Truth could change everything

On the wedding day, Joe's father figure Graham Foster, played by Andrew Scarborough, catches Dawn plotting her escape. She attacks him and ties him up. Bromley said: "Dawn is really full of grit and power in this storyline, and she's very determined to get what she wants. Don't underestimate her."

Dawn is unaware that Caleb is about to tell Joe everything, but the truth about Billy's attack could change everything. Viewers know Billy was attacked by Kev Townsend, played by Chris Coghill, during a robbery at the depot, and Caleb hid the evidence to frame Joe. Bromley said: "She doesn't want to leave Joe. She deeply loves this man. She can't stand the fact that Billy has been hurt by him, because she also cares so much for Billy. If it wasn't Joe, she wouldn't make that choice at all. She wouldn't leave with his child, she wouldn't run away with her children, and she wouldn't leave Kim."

Emmerdale's big wedding week begins on Monday 24 August on ITV1 and ITVX.
