Michael Owen has announced a six-part documentary series titled Meet the Owens, set to be released on Prime Video on August 28. All six episodes will be available at once.
Documentary Details
The series follows the former England footballer, his wife Louise, and their four children—Gemma, James, Emily, and Jessica—over the course of a year. It offers a look into their horse racing empire and family life. Prime Video teased, 'Since hanging up his boots, Michael has built a racing operation designed to compete at the world's biggest events. But keeping the stables afloat is getting harder every year.'
In the trailer, released July 29, Owen admits he has a reputation for being known as a 'boring p****', but the rest of the trailer shows family events, horse racing, and laughter. His daughter Jessica says he is 'quite embarrassing' at times. Owen himself states: 'Football was my life, now, it's horse racing.'
Fan Reactions
Prime Video shared the clip on Instagram with the caption: 'Big personalities, bigger ambitions and plenty riding on every decision. Meet the Owens, coming soon to Prime Video.' Fans responded enthusiastically, with comments such as 'Looking forward to this,' 'So excited for this!,' 'This is going to be such a wholesome watch,' and 'Now this is a show I can’t wait to seeeeeeee.' One fan called it a 'must watch,' and another said: 'He’s the reason I became a Liverpool supporter! Our next binge watch!'
Similar Format
The series appears to follow a format similar to the Tyson Fury documentary At Home with the Furys, as Michael and Louise prepare for life as empty nesters while their children chase their own ambitions.
